What's wrong with being a "core gamer"? I've been one all my life!

I love my Vita and want it to flourish (as a fan of ALL handheld games, 3DS/mobile included). However, I can't help but notice that none of those reasons include actual games slated for 2014.

I'm sure there'll be plenty of cool niche stuff to play, but the Vita needs great big tasty titles this year, and there's precious little announced in that department.

Oh, and the Unity=loads of developers argument is specious. The Wii U secured Unity sup...

I'd play that.

I'd play that hard.

In all seriousness, though, the Pendulum/E Day setting would be excellent, and a real contrast to everything we've seen before. Bigger battles, and a look at the COG in their glory days.

Oh nice. It's clear that he makes a great villain - Mr. Scratch is awesome!

Though they might also be working on another downloadable AW game like American Nightmare, I suppose.

Agreed, but I think that's pretty much a given. Judgment was very much a spinoff, so I doubt its Angry Birds-esque extra features will make it into the core series.

Though, erm, hopefully this doesn't mean that Gears of War Exile comes back now that Kinect is a bit more precise...

1080p 60FPS... sports channels. Hoo!

I actually love my Xbox One, but hey, it's fun to bite the hand that feeds every now and again. Hopefully it'll be that rumoured Phantom Dust remake... or a proper Panzer Dragoon sequel that doesn't hack the game to tiny pieces (thanks Crimson Dragon).

Or an update. I'd be happy enough with streamlined party formation and us Europeans getting OneGuide.

Heh, I'd rather have neither, but I guess I can live with the lesser of two evils...

I wonder if that's an actual average speed or actual advertised speed. I'm much closer to Netflix than OfCom, put it that way.

Fair point. I'm a day-one Wii U owner (not my primary gaming platform, mind) and often get drawn into ragging on Nintendo for their sales and lack of 3rd party games, horsepower etc. The Wii U has major problems that I just can't stop moaning about...

But then I turn the Wii U on and ACTUALLY PLAY IT.

Like any Nintendo console, it's all about those classic, perfectly-crafted games and the way they makes us feel. Not just the same old annualised sh...

Yep, this is definitely happening. Encountered this problem several times last night - at first it was happening to other players, which I heartily laughed at until karma caught up with me. Deserved, I suppose - but no excuse for yet more issues.

Shambles. It annoys me that BF4 is a quality game, but all we can talk about is how godawful the launch and post-release patching is.

I think the Wii U is well placed to become another Gamecube, but that's not a bad thing. A hardcore console to play quality exclusives with years of pedigree and loving design could work well for them - but they need to arguably drop the price a little further, bring back more classic franchises, encourage a nice selection of niche JRPGs and relax the region lock - letting it become a connoisseur's console that's a world away from the casual shooters on other platforms. A console ...

I don't see any future in the Android microconsoles. They're a year or two too late - now most new phones and tabs are capable of being connected to a TV and a controller, and provide exactly the same functionality. Plus, sorry, but for the price of a MOJO you could get a pre-owned or basic PS3 and/or X360!

I do have a soft spot for the NVIDIA Shield, though. It's silly and stupidly expensive, but if you're paying big money for an Android console, at least get...

AFAIK 'transmedia' curently means an IP that exists on multiple but fairly disconnected media - such as Pokemon, AssCreed etc. Games supported by TV shows/anime, books, films etc, but with little or no interaction between them beyond the basic setting.

Defiance tried and failed to switch things up by releasing a game that tied into a simultaneously-broadcast TV show (however, they've promised much more in season 2, so it's not entirely cut and dried yet) - but...

Here's hoping - Remedy will have their work cut out both in terms of developing the game itself as well as recording the series, but it would be great to see another major X1 exclusive arrive in 2014.

It's a shame, because the whole point of Early Access is to make development more transparent.

Mind you, you can't blame many gamers for thinking that way when any number of AAA publishers put out "betas" a month before a game comes out, basically just to act as hype demos/basic stress tests. :(

It's... in... alpha. Alpha.

I know that 'alpha' is an arguably meaningless term, but seriously, is it useful to criticise a work-in-progress that's up-front about not being anywhere near finished? Don't get me wrong, I'm not the biggest fan of DayZ Mod (because I suck at it - not knocking the game), but to take an early access title to task seems a bit mean-spirited, no?

Mind you, there's some good advice in here. Pro Tip: "ma...

The only thing I'm worried about is the launch. EA have botched two major online launches in the past 12 months - SimCity and BF4 - and Titanfall absolutely needs to work properly, day one.

More than anyone, Microsoft needs to prove that their 'cloud power' has real, tangible benefits. I've got a cheap PC pre-order but will likely also get it on my Xbox One, so fingers crossed.

I'd prefer Phantom Crash, but hell, I hope this is true.

Do Otogi: Myth Of Demons while you're at it.

Fair play. If you've got the PC version running a bunch of mods, then there's absolutely no reason to buy it again!

But for plenty of console gamers (especially PS3 owners), it would be an exciting opportunity.

Yeah, upping the draw distance would be a huge... draw... for me. Sorry. Unintentional puns aside, this would bring a huge amount of extra immersion to the game world and make hunting dragons all the more rewarding.

Plus, getting yanked into the air by Meridia would be all kinds of awesome.

Absolutely agreed. At the start of the last-gen, I was excited about all the completely new stuff - not remakes of games I'd already played to death. Mind you, The Orange Box was amazing.
